Frequently Asked Questions

01

Is life coaching for me?

Who am I now?  What's left of me?  If you've found yourself asking these questions, you've come to the right place! Picking up the pieces after any traumatic loss is not an easy task! But you don't have to go it alone.  Working with a life coach can be an invaluable resource in getting your life back on track.   Through compassion, active listening,  cheering for you, and asking deep questions,   I can help you rebuild a solid foundation - making your life now,  "after" the loss the best it can possibly be.

02

What exactly does a life coach do?

My goal as a coach is to encourage you, be a cheerleader, and an accountability partner.  I'll practice deep listening and ask thought provoking questions abut what's standing in the way of your goals.  Together we can problem solve and find workable solutions, ultimately empowering you to live your best possible life after a loss.

03

How is coaching different than therapy?

Where a therapist is primarily focusing on the past, your personal history, and questions such as: how did you get here, what's wrong, and how do we fix it.  Life coaching is focused accepting you where you now are and helping you move forward. We focus primarily on the now and work to create a future you love.  Asking questions such as: Where are you in the process today?  What are you left with after your loss?  What would you like to change or accomplish? And how can I help you succeed?

Likewise,  therapy is preformed by a licensed therapist and is primarily healing centered,  while life coaching is more goal oriented.  Of course, personal healing is likely part of moving forward and inevitably in the mix, but our focus together is not centered around diagnosing or treating an illness.  The life coaching relationship assumes you are whole. powerful, with a little encouragement,  capable of great things!

04

Why it works:

Many adults simply have no one to cheer for them, provide a sounding board for new ideas, or to support them though life's inevitable stumbling blocks.  A good friend or partner might be happy to hear of your plans, but how many are willing to engage in the deep discussion required to ensure that your dream becomes a reality?   Who holds us accountable?  Who asks about our progress?  Or helps us hash out obtainable goals and cheers when we accomplish even the smallest task?   Especially when dealing with a traumatic loss, picking up the pieces of who you once were can be tough.  Working with a coach is a great way to ensure your success!

05

Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes... and no.

I will ask that while we are working together, you agree to the terms of my coaching relationship agreement, which basically outlines what we can expect from each other during our time together.  I will also ask that you be prepared to work together for approximately 6 months, (though shorter or longer term agreements are possible).   Of course, you are free to stop at any time and will not be charged for future sessions, but most real and lasting change requires an active working commitment for at least four, if not six months or more.

Sounds Great!
